The Testament of Mary by Colm Toibin - This short novel appealed to me after I heard the author interviewed on the NPR show Fresh Air. In the same vein, I read Jose Saramago’s The Gospel according to Jesus Christ a couple years ago which I thought was great.
And I’ve been keeping Edward Gorey’s Amphigorey Again nearby for some light (but also dark) reading.
